Citizen of the Year Award
In April, the Kershaw Chamber of Commerce presented Linda White, Community Relations Coordinator at OceanaGold’s Haile Operation, with its annual Citizen of the Year Award.
Linda and her husband Eddie have embedded themselves in the community since they moved to Kershaw in 2007. Linda said she has enjoyed every minute of her time at Haile and believes it was divinely ordered for her to serve this community.
David Thomas, Vice President and Country Manager said it was her integrity and commitment to Haile that makes her a true reflection of what the Citizen of the Year Award represents.
“Linda, without exception, embodies the demonstration of our core values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, Innovation, Action and Accountability,” added David.
“She is genuinely engaging in and serving the community and always represents OceanaGold in an impeccable manner.”
Linda was touched and humbled by the honor.
“Working for Haile and the community has been the highlight of my life,” she said. “It’s all about the people. There’s no place like it. They have a heart of gold.”
Haile and the surrounding community have become like family to Linda. She jokes that the glowing character of OceanaGold, the Haile operation and our people has, “melted into the ground here and created jobs for all of us!”
