Haile's Grand Opening
At the end of June, OceanaGold will hold a three-day, world-class affair to celebrate the historic Haile Gold Mine, its achievements thus far and its promising future. The mine, located in the Southeastern United States near Kershaw, South Carolina, has been in existence for 200 years, but only recently has it really started to thrive again.
Dignitaries from around the world will be in attendance at Haile’s official grand opening ceremony on 22 June 2017. Some of the nearly 100 invited special guests include: Australian Ambassador to the United States Joe Hockey, Canadian Ambassador to the United States David MacNaughton and Nikki Haley, former South Carolina Governor and current United States Ambassador to the United Nations. Guests will attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony, learn more about the history of Haile and enjoy tours and lunch.
“Haile is once again poised to be the largest and most advanced gold mine in the eastern half of the United States, so we are excited to showcase the revolutionary work and accomplishments of the Haile team,” said David Thomas, Vice President – Country Director, OceanaGold. “We have worked tirelessly to construct a state-of-the-art operation that will live up to OceanaGold’s stellar reputation and we strive to deliver that same quality through economic growth in the community.”
Following the 22 June festivities, Haile will hold both a community celebration on 23 June and a family day for Haile employees on 24 June.
